Choose Your Own Earring Hooks

At From Under the Rafters, all earrings come with standard ear hooks from the stock of my parents’ former hobby shop. These are good basic hooks that I enjoy working with, but I cannot always say with certainty what metal they are made of. This is simply because the original packaging did not mention it. Since I understand that this can be important for some customers, I offer the option to replace the hooks with a more luxurious variant.

Why the standard option?

I still have enough hooks in stock for at least 200 pairs of earrings. It would be a shame not to use them, especially since they are still perfectly fine and sometimes match a design best. For the antique copper ear wires, I have not been able to find an equivalent alternative. If you would like to replace those, it can only be done by switching to a different colour.

The luxury alternatives

Would you prefer a more conscious material or a different wearing comfort? Then you can choose an upgrade with every pair of earrings. I will personally replace the standard hooks with the variant you select.

The options are:

• Clip-ons (gold- or silver-coloured metal): ideal if you do not have pierced ears. They are adjustable for extra comfort.
• 14k gold filled kidney ear wires: luxurious look with a thick layer of gold, more durable than gold plated.
• Rhodium plated sterling silver ear wires: sterling silver with a rhodium layer, which helps reduce tarnish compared to regular sterling silver.
• Sterling silver leverbacks: classic and sturdy, recommended for heavier earrings.
• Gold-coloured leverbacks: sturdy closure for heavier earrings, in gold-coloured metal.

My recommendation

All earrings come with standard hooks, but you can always choose an upgrade. The product description always mentions which hooks are included. By upgrading, you can adjust the earrings to suit your preference.

No pierced ears?

If you do not have pierced ears, you can choose the adjustable clip-ons. I also have a stock of non-adjustable silver-coloured clip-ons. If you have found a pair of earrings with standard hooks and would prefer them with the non-adjustable clip-ons, please contact me.
